Two polyphonic pieces for viola quartet.
The instrumental CHORAL has a behaved character that fits the style of polyphonic vocal motet.
So the melody of each instrumental voice is here thought quite vocal. However, you can also recognize recurring motifs in the voices, for example, bar 1/2 in viola 3 and viola4, imitated in bar 3/4 in viola 1 and 2.
These motifs appear sometimes to go together, but also imitated by itself.
-The MADRIGAL is characterized by the rhythmic motif - with eighth notes - one in size, which is imitated across all instruments.
