On April 4 of this year, Twan Vet, as city poet, published the poem 'Thuiskomst' (Homecoming) in De Stad Amersfoort. I thought that was a nice and strong text for a choral piece, recognizable for residents of many other old cities.

Your city poem 'Thuiskomst' (Homecoming) - is a declaration of love to Amersfoort, the European city of the year 2023 In April, 'Thuiskomst' was published in De Stad Amersfoort. Set to choir in September by the undersigned, as you know. And again this week in the same newspaper as a fitting tribute to Amersfoort - European City of the Year 2023!

Thuiskomst

Dit is een stad van kronkelwegen,
hoogbejaarde gevels, steegjesromantiek,

van nachtmuziek, kroeggewoel, pleinrumoer,
dit is een stad van dromers, dronkaards, donderstenen,

van zonlichtzoekers, donkerdenkers, twijfelmensen –
dit is een stad , die meer is dan alleen een stratenplan:

dit is een thuiskomst, zonder dat je wist
dat je die nodig had.
